Roller Skiing

There are plenty of roller ski companies and many different styles of roller skis. The two main categories are classic roller skis and skate roller skis. The skiers in the photos above are using V2 150's for skating technique. The wheels are pneumatic and give a smooth ride. The poles have hardened steel tips for use on pavement. The roller skis are equipped with speed reducers (see photo below far right) for control on downhills or to increase resistance while training. The skier in the middle photo is well protected with gloves, helmet, and knee pads. Beginners need to take time to build skills in a safe location. With a little practice, roller skiing is similar to cross-country skiing and adds a new dimension to cross-country ski training.
